With 16 inches of rain in twelve hours still falling at 1 inch per hour at the meeting time, it is amazing that we ended up with any cars attending at all!
Several cars owners called with regrets - understandibly. Some of us didn't know any better - my seventy-mile drive from Manitowac took 3-1/2 hours!
The meeting was held at Mader's Resturant, Old World Third Street, downtown Milwaukee. Three Citroëns were present - Brad Putchat's AMI 6 from Texas, Paul Vogel's wonderful DS21 Pallas from Illinois, and my CX25 GTi from Wisconsin. When we arrived in Milwaukee, the street manholes were billowing steam and the drinking bubblers (how do you like that word? - real "Lakeshore!"...) were gurgling water back up their drains from the heavy rains - but when we came out from the restaurant, the sun was shining!
The CX, AMI, and DS parked on the street - we had passersby stopping
constantly. One even asked if the CX was an "Aston Martin"!
